Reclaiming the mantle of colonialism: Rubio’s Munich Speech Feb 14, 2026
In February Marco Rubio, Secretary of State for Trump’s fascist regime brought the U.S. plan to reassert western hegemony before a welcoming audience of European imperialists and semi-colonial flunkies at the Munich Security conference. He asserted Trump’s plan/vison of an “unapologetic” ‘culture’ of white European supremacy, an alliance of nationalist states, inter-imperialist competition with China/BRICS, wars for recolonization of the Global south, authoritarianism as legitimate domestic policy and genocide as being ‘unfortunately necessary and tolerable.’ After hearing this ‘kinder gentler’ rendition of last year’s J.D. Vance’s malicious speech, ass-wipe European ‘democrats’ sighed in relief! A moment reminiscent of Chamberlain: “I believe it’s peace in our time.”
The fake democrats of the EU had not so deeply sublimated their historic imperialist projects with ‘woke ideology’ that they could not be righted by the gusano from Miami. The parasitic legacy of genocide, slavery, and theft that their personal and class privilege rests upon, found Rubio’s rephrasing of the German fascist AFD’s ‘NO GUILT NO SHAME’ rhetoric welcoming and reassuring.
Reassuring what? That the European capitalists would be welcome partners in an escalated offensive against the Chinese encroachment into the markets of the Global South? They only need a friendly reminder that it was their missionaries, their armies, their investments that initially secured the labor, land and raw resources of South America, South Asia and Africa to bring them to their feet in applause for Trump’s ‘lil Marco.” Rubio then flew on to Slovakia and Hungary to build up a new international alliance of rightist states already solidly MAGA, pro-Putin, authoritarian and ultra nationalistic.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen signaled that the Euro-bourgeois find Rubio’ s message reassuring. Walking a tight rope between the pro-Putin Trump and the pro-Zelensky EU, she outlined the EU plans to accelerate military spending. Preparedness, she asserted, “to defend their own freedom” is their duty to fulfil. This freedom is identified with steadfastly pumping capital into military forces of destruction first and foremost to bolster their proxy regime caught in this endless meatgrinding inter-imperialist war over Ukraine. Germany’s Friedrich Merz, had a more sober assessment. He expressed irritation at the ovation for Rubio which he saw as approval for a “return of empire” rather than an actual shift in U.S. policy.
Rubio had just excoriated the post WWII mythological consensus of a liberal post-colonial, anti-authoritarian benign world order. He stripped away the “woke” self-aggrandizing bourgeois notion that the U.S./ EU emerged from a ‘somewhat nefarious past’ after the “end of history” washed away the sins of the past. Rubio brought Trump’s ‘good news’ message to the liberal bourgeois of Europe that they too are invited to unabashedly embrace their history, their true nature without guilt or shame.
The message is to embark on a new world order and reclaim the global south which is slipping through their fingers. And just between the lines, spoken, yet unspoken, revealed in the U.S. bailout to Milei in Argentina, in the daily war crimes on the high seas of the Caribbean, in obsequious genuflecting to Putin and demonstrated by Rubio’s subsequent visit to Orban, that ‘you’re either with MAGA or against MAGA!”
It is no secret that the Heritage Foundation is working to identify and build an alliance of far right organizations across Europe and beyond to cast off those afflicted with ‘woke’ ideology so those prepared to do what is necessary can take power. And what is necessary in this period of economic decline in the U.S./EU empire is fascism at home and wars to re-colonize and repartition the world abroad. In lockstep, on the homefront, Kristy Noem propagandizing for the gestapo ICE raids declares those who oppose them, including Democrats, are in the “Party of Marxists.” And there you have it; red-baiting tied up with a bow! Both Noem and Rubio use the boogie-man of Marxism to discredit decolonization abroad and the solidarity with immigrants movement at home!
Rubio is throwing civilization’s moral self assessment back 500 years to rally the parasites away from “woke” socialism to re-embrace slavery, genocide and colonialism. He blames communism for dealing the death blow to civilization. It is worth reminding people that civilisation nearly happened when the communists had a revolution in Russia and but for the counter revolution, and the two wars we would already have the end of history and the start of civilisation. The Nasty Little War led by the United States in 1918 rallied sixteen nations against the revolution aiding the counter-revolutionary monarchists. While they were repelled the damage was done, the revolution under siege and sanctions was crippled and isolated; workers’ democracy did not survive the privations of the civil war which became the breeding ground of bureaucratism and Stalinism degenerating the dictatorship of the proletariat. While the gains of the October revolution, the socialized economy, the monopoly of foreign trade and land reform survived, European imperialism could not feel secure. This led to the Nazi invasion to defeat the degenerated workers state and 26 million Russians died. Undoubtedly Rubio and Trump would have marched alongside Hitler!
The world situation, the colossal mess and threat of species extinction capitalism has made of it, calls upon the international working class, the one productive class in modern society, to lead humanity into a future of survival and a human, civilized development. We fight for a transitional program that makes the dialectic of this survival plain so that the world’s toilers can understand, adopt it and make it the engine of their practice. Understanding this dialectic will enable the formation of mass vanguard parties and a new workers’ international of revolutionary parties! Together we will conquer political and military power to defend the workers’ ownership, control and self-management of the world’s resources to meet all human human needs and restore the environmental well being for all living things.
